Dorothy
I have just read your message to Brian, and I am a bit shocked. Do you
really need to keep all the 800 and more e-mails in your in box? I am on
quite a few lists, and most of them just need deleting, as they are about
recycling goods, and most of what is offered I don't need. The BCAB and
JAWS lists are a different matter, but if I see one which contains useful
advice worth keeping for future reference, I first move it to a "saved
items" folder I have created, and then from time to time I go through this
folder and save e-mails as text files in Word.
I also wonder if you are trying to make life too complicated. My motto is
keep it simple. I have been using computers for about 17 years, so I hope I
know what I am talking about. I have never bothered trying to put messages
from different lists into different folders, as most of them get dealt with
quickly each day. I know it is good to try things out, but if not
necessary, why bother?
Your e-mails are getting through to the list ok, and I wonder whether you
have really missed anything, or whether they have just gone into other
folders you have created. If your account is destroyed and re-created, you
will probably lose everything you have, unless someone can save it onto CD's
or an external hard drive so you can re-install it, but I wonder whether the
quantity of messages you still have is perhaps causing the problem, as all
those messages may be gumming up the works. I don't know how much space you
are allowed for your e-mail account, but there will be a limit, and you may
be close to or have over-reached it.
If I am talking nonsense, I apologise, but I know how it was at work when we
all got too many messages and tried to hang onto them. We ended up not
being able to receive or send messages until we had cleared out our
accounts.
All the best.
Wendy
