Depending on the person's level of sight, and on the level of knowledge she 
already has in this field, I'd think seriously about trying to find a good 
accessible book to work through rather than attend a course.  If she is 
dependent on a screen reader, the experience of trying to keep up with a 
mainstream course might be so daunting as to be counter-productive.


I did Microsoft Certified Professional in administering W2K a few years ago, 
and managed to pass the exam (a sighted amanuensis typed in my answers to the 
automated test paper).  I worked through the CD version of a book which 
included exercises and questions similar to the exam questions.  Sites such as 
Safari are really good sources of on-line books for this purpose, but she'd 
need a recommendation for the book which relates to the material she needs to 
cover.

I know there's a lot to be said socially for attending a real course, and that 
with the right tutor or the right set-up in the class-room it can be a positive 
experience, but if she does decide to do the course, she'll need to think 
seriously about exactly how she is going to follow examples which will be 
largely mouse-based, in real time.  Maybe working closely with a partner would 
be the way to go.

Anyway, this probably doesn't answer the question, but thought I'd contribute 
my two penn'orth.

        I've recently been contacted by someone who is thinking about
studying in the Autumn. She asks:

"I need to know which courses are suitable. Since courses start in

Certified Desktop Support Technician course. Are you able to advise."

        If anyone knows anything of this course, or can suggest any other
courses of a similar vein that she might investigate at her local college,
I'll get back to her. I know information is a bit scanty, so if I can relay
any pertinent questions that might help, let me know.
