[bcab] Messenger problem

Hi all
has anyone experienced an difficulties with messenger recently.
The problem I'm getting is that both me and the person I'm talking to are shown as online, but at fairly regular intervals, half way through a message, it will just cut off as if they've stopped typing. I type back, but they get no message.
then about 90 seconds later, we can start getting each others messages again. 

Any ideas?
