[bcab] Re: Laptop and volume level

Hi Graham, my volume level is at 100%, although I guess I may still have some
configuration to do. Apparently in Vista you can change volumes application
specific. On further messing, I've found that Jaws is fine and music plays
fine, but the DVD I tried was too low in my opinion...I'll have to try some
more. My problem at the minute is that I'm working with Jaws in demo mode, I
haven't had the time to set up the wireless router I've bought...and I guess
I'll need the wife around to help to do it...it seems a bit difficult to me,
but I won't really know until I try, smile.

I think the change to Vista and the laptop is just a bit different to me at the
moment, I'll just see how it goes, many thanks Steve.

Subject: [bcab] Laptop and volume level

Hi list. Can anyone offer any advice on laptops and the volume level they
have? I've just got an Advent 7201 with Vista Premium on it. I've upped the
audio levels and JFW is working well. However, when playing a DVD, the volume
is very low...even with the windows media player at full volume. Is this usual
for laptops?, as I've never had any experience with laptops. I've only ever
had a desk top PC and I've probably been spoilt with the volume, so I'm just
trying to find out if laptops are usually quite a bit lower. BTW, if this is
the case, do people use external/plugin speakers for watching DVD's? cheers
Steve.
