Hi Steve
I've had several laptops and have never noticed any difference in sound
levels. It may depend on the sound card.
One thing is that applications have their own volume control and sometimes
you have to adjust all of them to achieve a satisfactory result.
I find this particularly with pod casts using I Tunes. I tend to keep the
volume up on the I Tunes and adjust the main volume with the laptop and
speaker controls.
Kind regards
Charles Crisp

Subject: [bcab] Laptop and volume level
Hi list. Can anyone offer any advice on laptops and the volume level they
have? I've just got an Advent 7201 with Vista Premium on it. I've upped
the audio levels and JFW is working well. However, when playing a DVD, the
volume is very low...even with the windows media player at full volume. Is
this usual for laptops?, as I've never had any experience with laptops.
I've only ever had a desk top PC and I've probably been spoilt with the
volume, so I'm just trying to find out if laptops are usually quite a bit
lower. BTW, if this is the case, do people use external/plugin speakers for
watching DVD's? cheers Steve.
