[bcab] Re: Juiced out.

Hello Léonie

I have used Juice for three years or so and it mostly works well -
occasionally it forgets what episodes were downloaded and if few cases tried
to download all the episodes available again - it's good I caught it in time
- some podcasts contains many gigabytes of data.
Having said all that, it usually behaves very well; I would recommend it to
everybody.

As per your problem:

* Check that your firewall does not block the program.

* Check that Juice did not download it all without you noticing it.
In the File menu, go to preferences and in the tab that comes up (I think it
is called 'General' look for something like (6 or7 tabs away) 'download the
file to folder' - check the folder on your computer for the Podcast MP3
file.

* If you can not find the file, go back to juice and flick the 'skip' option
you mentioned below to force the download; it could be that Juice got
confused.

Finally, I use Juice in conjunction with SpeakOn (forgive the party
political broadcast).
Firstly, SpeakOn allows you to listen to podcasts streamed; this is useful
if you want to browse what is available, having a quick listen etc. Also
sometimes you want to listen streamed to what is in a particular episode
(usually announced at the first few seconds of an episode) such as in touch
and decide that this episode has nothing of interest to you - you can stop
Juice from downloading it even if you are subscribed - I never have juice
running all the time.

There are of course advantages to downloading such as skipping and
transferring the files to an external device etc.
In case you want to listen at least to some of the downloaded episodes on
your computer (I do this a lot myself as I can't be bothered or have no need
to transfer most of the files to an external device) SpeakOn gives you
second to none facilities to browse the downloaded episodes, skip by
different intervals, bookmark where you left off, bookmarks for future
reference and finally disposing of the files.

Configuring Juice to download the files in a place that SpeakOn can 'see'
(you can of course still do with the files whatever you want) takes one
minute and it is explained in:

Regards
Isaac

Subject: [bcab] Juiced out.

Evening,

I've just downloaded Juice for the first time. I've added a
subscription to In Touch, but can't get seem to get it to
work/download/play. If I look on the Subscription tab, I can see In Touch
listed.

If I then either Check All or Check Selected, it appears to scan. In
the second drop down box on the Subscriptions tab it appears to show an
episode from the 22nd April. It also seems to have the word "skipped"
associated with it, in case that's relevant.

Whatever I do, I can't seem to do anything with it. I'm clearly
missing something important. If anyone can set me straight, it would be much
appreciated.

Alternatively, if there are any other pod catchers out there I'd be
interested to hear. Thanks.

Regards,
Léonie.
