hi des. what is happening is that JAWS detects language flags on
websites; this can even be the case where a website is written in
English language but using a German set up - so the result is you get
english but pronounced using german pronunciation rules (if that makes
sense).

Anyway, to get rid of it you can either do it globally or only in the
case of internet.

for global change (in other words, this change will apply to all
software that you run):
* go to jfw;
* select  utilities from the menu bar and select configuration manager;
* you wil now be in configuration manager and you should select options
from the menu bar and then text processing from there;
* tab to the item that says "detect language settings" which will be
checked;
* uncheck it by pressing spacebar and tab to ok and select that;
* either close configuration manager making sure that when it prompts
you to save changes you do so or select file and save from the menu bar.

For internet only, certainly in later versions you can do this from
opening internet explorer then jaws key (insert) v will give you a list
of options specific to internet explorer - arrowing down you should find
language detection option which you uncheck. if it isn't there do the
following:
* open internet explorer;
* press jaws key (insert) plus number 6 (not function key 6);
* jaws configuuration manager will open but this time with the jaws
configuration setting file open for internet explorer;
* select options from the menu bar then text processing. tab to
language detection and uncheck, followed by tabbing to ok;
* alt-f4 closes the manager, but don't forget to say yes to saving
changes.

Hope this helps.

Hello,
I regular get the Aldi bi-weekly bulletins e-mailed to me.
When I click on the links, though, I get the website in German instead
of
English.
I use JFW7.X.  What's happening, please?
