[bcab] Re: JAWS9 and punctuation

If the problem cannot be solved permanently, you could use insert v and
adjust the Jaws verbosity for the session in your Microsoft Word document.

I know this is a bit of a cop-out but it would take care of things until
higher minds than mine can come up with some advice for a permanent solution
for you.

  Subject: [bcab] JAWS9 and punctuation

  Good Afternoon All,

I'm a new member to this list and I wonder if someone could offer me some
advice please. I've recently migrated from JAWS4 and Widnows ME to JAWS9 and
Windows XP. I like to have JAWS set to read all punctuation. JAWS9 all
punctuation has been improved and now reads all punctuation contained with
in words e.g. I've is now spoken I apostrophe ve and not Ive and so on. This
can be very irritating when listening to a long document. I've tried adding
the words to the JAWS dictionary manager and teaching JAWS to speak them
correctly. I have added the words to both the default manager and the
Microsoft Word.jdf file; now in applications like Outlook Express words like
I've are now read correctly i.e. without the punctuation being spoken within
the word, but they are still being misread with in Microsoft Word.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems please? and does anyone have
any other suggestions as to what I might try to rectify this problem. Any
help would be gratefully received.

Many thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing from you.

Very best wishes from Chris Cook.
