[bcab] Re: JAWS and Tabs

HI Kevin,

I don't know of any way of setting JAWS to automatically check for
updates. Thee may be a newsletter or something you can subscribe to, to
get this information. I just check every week or two by running the
"Check for updates" option in the Help menu. Having said this however,
this doesn't always seem to work, as when I checked the Freedom
Scientific site in late January, I found that there had been a patch
update (to version .519) which hadn't been recognised when I ran "Check
for updates".

Regards,

Tim

        Hi Tim

Is there a way of being alerted to new builds of JAWS being made
available.

        Cheers

        Hi Mel,

I have also found JAWS 9 to be a bit of a step back in some
respects,
though as always, there are also some improvements. I've found
that the
stability, and its support of Word has improved with recent
patch
updates. The latest is version 9.0.552. So if you installed
yours from
the distribution CD, its worth checking which version you have,
and if
        necessary updating.

I don't have any experience of the application you mention, but
it would
be worth going back to the supplier/manufacturer and asking them
to
justify their claims of accessibility. I've certainly found in
a couple
of cases, that things which work in JAWS 8, were broken in JAWS
9, so it
may be that they genuinely did get it working with an earlier
version.
Alternatively, they may have some scripts which make things
easier.

        Regards,
