Hi Steve,
I think the better method would be to contact Freedom Sci and tell them to
get on with supporting it. Window-Eyes supports it very well already, even
with Version 5.5, but the public beta of Version 6 supports it even better.
IE7 is much slicker, much faster, and tabbed browsing is tremendous. So
let's not talk about not getting it, let's talk about better support for it
from the screen reader vendors that don't yet support it, and should. Betas
for it have been out for a while now, so Free Sci should have a handle on it
by now.
All the best

Wendy and others,
My understanding is that Internet Explorer 7 is going to come out as a
Windows update in early November. To prevent it automatically being
installed, you need to turn off the Auomatic Update feature within Windows.
Here is how to do that with Windows XP.
Open the Start menu and choose Control Panel. If Control Panel isn't on the
Start menu, choose Settings and then Control Panel.
Move down to Automatic Updates and press Enter.
Tab to a series of radio buttons and choose anything except "Automatic
(recommended)".
Tab to the OK button and press it.

Subject: [bcab] INTERNET EXPLORER VERSION 7
I have just had an e-mail from my sighted volunteer who informs me that on 1
November Microsoft will be distributing IE 7. He is concerned that I might
get it automatically, and understands that it is not compatible with JAWS.
I have automatic updates on, but I am wondering whether it will be possible
to refuse the IE update. Please could anyone advise me, and all members who
may be affected, what we need to do.
Many thanks
Wendy
