Hi Dave,
It must be a long time since you have tried WE then. Not only does it have
a JAWS layout, so you don't even have to remember new keystrokes, it works
with MSN, Windows Messenger, and Live Messenger. Its excel support in my
view is at least as good as JFW, if not better, its word support in my view,
is better than JFW, and if you say you are not happy with JFW 7.1, then
maybe it could be worth a look again. You can get a free demo, so it may be
worth having a play again. To get to the JFW layout, just hit the keyboard
menu, and you'll find it in there.
All the best

That's all very well, and I agree they should get their finger out, but I am
still on v7.0 because it's the most recent one I have managed to make work,
though I think I've now learned how to rewrite the default.jkm file to make
the keyboard work on later versions. But I have all the clutter that goes
with Jaws now. There is so much stuff that is completely unnecesary. Trouble
is, I simply cannot get my head round Window Eyes. I have tried time and
time again, and I just can't get the performance or memorise the keystrokes
that I can in Jaws. Neither can I afford to keep updating them both, so
I've been concentrating on Jaws because that's what we all know if our
house. I've found that in v7.1 list boxes don't read anything out a lot of
the time and things like that, so have had to turn it off and go back to
v7.0. I'm now really out of date with WE but I do use Excell for various
things and I never did like WE's performance in that. I just want a screen
reader I can actually use that doesn't lave loads of broken features and
does things like read messages automatically in MSN etc, and last I knew, WE
couldn't even do that!
Cheers
Dave
