not sure if this is what you mean Sue, but you have the address bar selected
when you do alt d, with control plus o, you haven't anything selected.
Incidentally, you can even use control plus l to open IE, and you can type
an address into that open dialog box as well.

Can anyone tell me what the difference between using Alt plus D to get to
the address bar, and control O and typing in a web address that way is?
