[bcab] Re: How do I stop Freecorder from picking up Jaws snippets?

I'm just looking at the freecorder program, and it looks to me as if it works
by capturing any sound which comes out of the computer, rather annoying really.
I suspect messing about with the windows volume controls may well cause more
problems than it solves.
I'll continue playing with it, but bare in mind that I've never used it before.

  Hi Dave,

pardon my ignorance, but please can you remind me where I should find Volume
control? is this part of the Freecorder programme or part of my systems
settings. Keystroke commands will be helpful.

  Thanks,
  Clive

You'll probably have this problem whichever program you use. When
recording, you've probably got your sound card set to record What you hear.
You need to go into volume control to check whether this is the case, and
you may get away with setting it to wav. If you record what you hear, then jaws
will be recorded, as it captures any sound from your sound crd.

      Hi all,

I am using Freecorder to record listen again programmes from the BBC.
I'm getting the programms, but it's also capturing and saving loads of unwanted
files, containing small chunks of Jaws speech. Thankfully, I usually get the
programme I want, but I have to fish for it among several hundred downloads.
How do I set the programme so that I can get the programme I want to record,
but can also use Jaws to multi-task, without the Jaws speech snippets landing
in my inbox. I also have to say that when I activate Freecorder by selecting
"Record" from the toolbar, I get a dialog box but can't see the question it's
trying to ask me, whether I'm in Jaws or PC mode.

Final question: if this is going to be a recurring problem with
Freecorder, can anybody recommend a more blind-user-friendly programme to do
the same job?

      Thanks,
      Clive
