Tony and Graham:
Thanks for your input.
More information now received from Demon which further
clarifies the situation.
Also, a Draytek router should be with me on Monday.

Hi
Did this a month ago. Went with Demon because I need a fixed
IP address and their tech support is usually good (but have
to say I agree with adverse comments about their admin - it
is rubbish).
You get a CD and a DSL modem that attaches to a USB port. I
had no problems installing it (sorry, use sighted methods
with giant VDU). Once all worked, I junked it and put in a
Draytek router. Only problem I find is that unless the
router is set too always on that initial connection in a
session or after a break during a session can be
unacceptably long.
My admin problems with Demon were they wanted to charge for
dial-up as well as broad band and I had to get quite
agressive with them to get a credit note issued to cancel
the incorrectly raised invoice.
HTH
Tony
