[bcab] Re: Fw: assistive technology - blind and no arms

Hi.
There is a solution which allows people to dictate into the computer
and receive feedback from a screen reader. It is the most readily available
option, though it can be difficult to implement due to the training
involved. It entails the use of Dragon Naturally Speaking voice command and
dictation software
        http://www.nuance.com
with either Freedom Scientific's Jaws screen reader
        http://www.freedomscientific.com
         and Brian Hartgen's JSay
http://www.tandt-consultancy.com/j-say%20_4.html
Alternatively, you could use Dragon with Dolphin's Hal or Supernova
        http://www.dolphinuk.co.uk/
        and Brian Hartgen's NovaLink
http://www.tandt-consultancy.com/novalink.html
Both these solutions would allow the user to dictate into the
system. Whether he could dictate in Arabic is another matter, though he
could probably read Arabic with the system, as both Jaws and the Dolphin
products support Arabic.
        HTH.
        Aman

I work in a training centre for VI adults in the UAE. Your mailing list
is a lifeline with the outside world on all VI matters. THANK YOU.

My request is for advice on assistive technology available to a blind
person who has no arms. Can they still use the keyboard in any way - or
is there any voice recognition software that would be appropriate?

Regards,
