Hi Barry a removable drive being connected will normally assume the first
available drive letter
that plug and play can find for it. Although you can't really make every pen
drive that you connect
assume the same letter, you can specify which drive letter each individual one
uses, when it
re-visits the same PC.
You can change the letter that any individual pen drive uses, by the following
method.
1) Connect the pen drive
2) Go to your "My computer" icon, press the application key and select "Manage"
from the menu.
3) Select "Disk Management" from the tree view, then press tab and arrow down
to the drive required
from the list.
4) Press the application key on it and choose "change drive letter and paths".
5) Tab twice to get to the "Change" button and press space bar.
6) Tab once to get to the combo box and use arrow keys to select the new drive
letter you require.
7) Press enter, then select the YES button to confirm your decision.
8) Lastly close the computer management window.
From then on when you connect that same drive to the same PC it will always
have the same letter.
If you have more than one pen drive you can do the same for each one.

Subject: [bcab] Fixing drive letter for pen drives
Hi all
Is it possible to set a drive letter for a pen drive so that, no matter what
pen drive is attached to my computer, it always uses the same drive letter?
As it stands, my computer has been calling them F drive, which is my
external hard drive, H and I. I'd like to make it Z so that it has no way
of messing with any other drives.
Cheers
Barry
