Hi Tim.  We have found that the USB to Parallel converters
from Maplin do the job here.

 

Where exactly you go from there depends on the  model of
Index and the software you are using.  If using Duxbury, the
Index drivers are within Duxbury and we can he;p you
install.  I can't speak for other braille software.

Hi Listers.  I have a new laptop which does not possess a
parallel port.  It was via the parallel port that my Index
Basic was connected to the old machine.  Does anyone know
how I must connect the embosser to my new system?  Is it as
simple as buying a new cable such as a mail USB to mail
parallel or ain't it gonna be that easy?  the new machine
has exactly the same OS as the old one so there shouldn't be
any competability issues in this area.
