Thank you for all this information.
Having looked at my C:\ from within Disk Keeper, I note that that particular drive does not currently need to be defragmented, and I know that there is a lot of spare space on D:\, so I am not certain that I will convert either partition to NTFS at present, however, I will keep your e-mails, so that I can refer to them if circumstances make it necessary for me to need to convert either partition, or both, to NTFS.
