[bcab] Re: Design Patterns.

Hi Nick,

Firstly, apologies for my confusion, I have a book by Bruce Eckels called
'Thinking in C++' and he also has a book called 'Thinking in patterns'.

They are both freely available for download from:
http://www.mindviewinc.com/

Rather than guess which ones you want, if any, it might be better if you
download them yourself. If you wish, though, I'll be happy to attach them to a
mail.

This page has a number of books by the same author on Java.

A couple of things to note ...

1. There are two volumes of 'Thinking in C++' which are both on the page
but not contiguously.

2. There is a note on the page which mentions that certain fonts re
required for these books. I am not sure if they are present in the default set
under Windows. There is, however, a link which you can follow to download them.

A couple of other sites which may be of use follow:

Hi Nick,

I note that you have sent this message to the blindprogramming list so
you may get this answer from someone there.

I am fairly sure that Bruce Eccles has a book on his site called
"Thinking in patterns with C++".

I do have the book but haven't read it yet so don't know if it is what
you need. If you want me to send it to you, let me know.

\I'm afraid I don't remember his url at the moment.

Cheers,

Subject: [bcab] Design Patterns.

Hi All.

Sorry for the cross posting.
I'm after a website or electronic book I can bye which goes over design
patterns.

In the last few design reviews I've been through at work it's been
suggested I look in to the singleton pattern or the pool pattern or
threading patterns. I think it would be good for me to be aware of what
patterns are around so I can design my software with the patterns in
from the first place rather than being pointed at them during design
reviews.

So I'm after a good E-book or Website that details a number of useful
patterns and if it goes over how to implement them in C++ even better!

Cheers.
Nick.
