Yes, I came across this myself and think you're absolutely right. It's
astounding to realise the perception people have. Any ideas what we may be
able to do to raise our profile?
Cheers,
Tink.

Subject: [bcab] Debate on the BBC website about unspoken web addresses on TV
Hi all,
please see this extract from the RNIB's weekly Audio Description output from
Jill Whitehead.
I think this also shows there's some public awareness raising to be done on
the perceptions of our ability to use computers at all! Could we be the
people to do it?
Jill Whitehead writes:
Second, have a look at the link below. It will take you to a section on the
BBC website where there is a debate going on about blind people watching TV
and using computers. Please feel free to contribute if you wish. The
debate was sparked by a "leaked" email from the Head of BBC Newsroom,
prompted by
me, asking all news presenters to read out email addresses and phone numbers
etc. instead of just saying "the number is on your screens now" - enjoy!
Warning: if you have high blood pressure, it may go even higher after
reading some of the contributions you'll find on the site!
