[bcab] Re: DUPLICATE FOLDERS IN OUTLOOK

Wendy,

I did a search on Google for "Duplicate folders in Outlook
2003"

It seems to be quite a common problem. The following looks
simple enough.

George.

I get this all the time (don't know what causes it - but -
it's easy to fix (temporarily - for a week or so)
-close outlook
-go to control panel
-go to mail
-select 'data files'
you'll see two listed - although only one has a full path

-highlight the one that doesn't have a path

- select 'Remove'

- reopen outlook and all is peachy -

... now if I could just figure out why it happens randomly
every couple weeks!

Subject: [bcab] DUPLICATE FOLDERS IN OUTLOOK

Hello everyone

My sighted volunteer has been trying to solve a problem for
me following advice from Microsoft, but so far no luck, so I
wonder whether anyone else has had the same trouble.

When we installed Office 2003 basic we noticed that all the
folders in Outlook are duplicated. At the bottom of the
first list it starts again with "personal folders closed",
and on arrowing right to open it we find all the folders
listed again. Opening any of the lower folders reveals the
contents to be the same as the upper ones.

Microsoft suggests going into mail on the control panel,
choosing data files, and there should be two personal
folders on the list. Removing the lower one should solve
the problem. However, the data files list only shows one
instance of personal folder. My friend has searched for
other answers, but to no avail.

No harm seems to be occurring, so in a way we don't think
there is anything to worry about, but we are irritated that
we cannot solve this problem, so any suggestions would be
much appreciated. My friend downloaded a whole lot of
updates from Microsoft today to get us up to speed, but the
Outlook problem persists.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Wendy
