You are completely right but even these could not deliver mp3 copies of the
tracks on your PC .
You have the use the horrible and inaccessible SonicStage software to import
and export from the Net MD.
These restrictions were inbuilt by Sony to provide copy protection of
music.
As far as I recall there was a professional solution to this which involved
buying an MD drive for your PC and special software but this was
horrendously expensive, at about £2,000, again to deter copying of copy
right material.
There was also a third party USB sound card which claimed to be able to take
an SDIF optical cable from the Net MD and produce a accessible copies. I
do not think many were made and they were very difficult to track down.
Unfortunately I cannot remember what this was called. I know I spent a bout
a year trying to find one before I simply stopped using my MD players and
moved onto mp3 players.
