[bcab] Re: Computer hiccups

George,
It had not been happening before. I like your idea about changing connectors though. I'm currently using a gold connector, but it may have got damaged.
I'm just about to try it without being connected to the network to see if that makes any difference.

Thanks for help,

Dave.

David,

When you say, "Its become an issue just recently", do you
mean it was not happening before, or had you simply not
noticed it?

I only ask because I had a similar problem recently, which
turned out to be a bad connection in one of the plugs. It
was OK for low bandwidth voice recording, but shove anything
heavy through it and it baulked from time to time.

I replaced it with a gold connector, and all was fine.

George.

Thanks to all those who've replied to this. Its become an
issue just recently, and may, as Tony suggests, be something
to do with the network connection. Its become important
because of a project I'm currently undertaking. Here's a
brief run down on my system:
Its a 1.4ghz processor.
I have a soundblaster audigy, with a large breakout box.
I'm permanently connected to the network.
Its a problem with all recording programs.
It didn't used to be a problem.
I have windows xp pro.

Any further advice will be received with much gratitude.

Thanks,

Dave.

Hello Dave,

do you have an alternate sound card you might install?

So many variables, ellimination is the only way forward I
think. Are your
drivers up to date? Does this happen with any recording
source?

Just some thoughts, which I guess you've considered
anyway.

best,

Joe

Hi all,
I am having trouble recording directly to my PC at the
moment.
Playing files is fine, but when recording, tiny bits get
skipped, and the
recording is ruined.
I have defragged the drives, cleared as much stuff out of
the system tray
as is safely and humanly possible.
I will be grateful for any suggested solutions to this
problem.
I should say that the computer is part of a home network
with one other
computer on it.

Thanks,

Dave.
