Hi Steve,
I hadn't got round to trying the other voices before becoming frustrated by the
voice I was presented with. When I installed talks, I had immense trouble
understanding the voice and was unable to continue. The voice present I found
to be inaudible. I might add at this point that my ears are about as good as
my eyes and in my experience, I have found the phonics package with mobile
speak to be the best for me. Others may find that they prefer other voice
synthesizers, but for me, I have found something that works.
However, if you can give me step by step instructions as to how to get and try
different voices with talks, I would be happy to re-evaluate my findings. On
that matter, do you know if talks works with the excel and word elements of
quick office? If so, which version of quick office and where can I get it?
I've found that with mobile speak that version 3 of quick office is supported
but not later. Do you know where I can get version 3 of Quick office?
Cheers
Roger

Hi Roger,
Easier to understand than Eloquence? You do surprise me. What about the
Realspeak or Vocaliser voices?
All the best
Steve

Hi Steve,
I haven't found the speech very easy to understand. It is as simple as that.
I've found that the mobile speak phonics are much easier to understand.

Hi Roger,
Out of interest, what didn't you like about Talks? In my experience, it is
more stable and has more features than Mobile Speak, and works on the web where
MS is nowhere near as good.
All the best
Steve

Hi Steve,
Fair enough, I just didn't have the website to hand. Thanks, I can see how
that develops.

Hi Roger,
And what about http://www.nuance.com/talks or
http://www.nuance.com/zooms? I know you didn't like it, but might as well give
it a plug eh?
All the best
Steve

Hi BSG,
The salesman is lazy, I used to use an N73 and that was fine. Now I'm
using an N95 8Gb.
If it's phone accessibility you're looking for, Symbian series 60 phones
are accessible using mobile speak. If this is what you're looking for then
take a look around codefactories website, they give a list of phones which
their software works on and a list of the most popular.
Be aware if using Quick Office that version 4 and later are not currently
fully supported.
I also understand that talks screen reader for mobile phones is out there
but when I tried it, I didn't like it.
I've been really quite happy with 3 network for support and service.
Here are a couple of websites if you want to take a look.
http://www.three.co.uk
http://www.codefactory.es
Best of luck
Roger

Hello to all,
I currently have a contract with Vodaphone for my mobile and this is
coming due at the end of the month, with so much on offer out there, can anyone
give me some advice on what phone to upgrade to, and what is really the best
deal for us blind people. I did hear somewhere that there was a phone that was
available for special use by the blind, but as to who supplies this is anyone's
guess. Anyway if I can ask for advice from anyone, it would be greatly
appreciated. My current phone is a Nokia N70 and Vodaphone tell me that there
is nothing better to upgrade to, is this true or just a lazy salesman talking??
