[bcab] Can the icons on a computer's desktop be set in numerical order within columns?

Hi all,
Following a recent thread on this list regarding someone having had their icons on their computer's desktop move rather oddly, I would like to pose some questions to the more technical list members.
I have 34 icons on my computer's desktop, but they are arranged in 5 columns. I would have thought that these columns would have been set out in numerical order i.e, 1 to 4 in the first column and so on, but they are not all in numerical order, is there a way of arranging them in numerical order?
Is this possible using Dolphin Supernova version 9, or would I need sighted help?
