Hi all,
My wife and I were away for a weekend with our church from the afternoon of
Friday 19th September up until Sunday 21st September. During that weekend,
we
had a conversation with the new assistant Pastor of our church, in which he
told me among other things that he was looking into the design of the
church's website and in looking on the internet, he'd come across references
to screen Readers, and he wanted to know how the church could make their
website more accessible to screen readers.
I've already obtained some information from a friend who is a Jaws user who
has looked at the site with Jaws 9 and given me some useful
feedback, however, if any members of this list could pass on any advice, it
may assist me in assisting the church.
The website is www.sellyelim.org and I would be grateful if people with
access to Hal, Window-Eyes, or system access or any other screen reader
other than Jaws could test the site, so that I can give an over-all picture
of how accessible the website is from the point of view of screen reader
users over-all, and what changes would be necessary to allow accessibility
for all screen reader users.
Thank you in advance for any help that any members can give.
Please note that although I realise people's names will appear in the
messages they send in reply to this one, I will not be sending people's
names to the assistant Pastor of the church I attend, unless they mention in
their reply that they feel they wish me to pass on their name and e-mail
address as they feel they can offer further advice than any contained in
replies to this message.
In general, I will only be passing on the actual comments and advice and as
I stated above,I will only pass on the name of the sender of any advice with
their permission.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give.
Alexander Shannon
