Hi Mark,
Interesting and thank you for shedding some light on this as I
sometimes come across problems you've just mentioned.
Thanks again,
Vicki.

HI,
This kind of links in to a message that I think was on this list the
other day; If the update baloon thing doesn't always appear in the
system tray, it may be that the system tray properties are set to
'hide inactive icons'. Broadly speaking I guess this is a setting you
probably want for most things; on my PC for example this setting when
checked means I've not constantly got the message saying a 'cable is
unplugged' regarding the local area network; as the PC is normally*
connected via wireless to our network I don't necessarily want the
icon there all the time telling me what I already know visa the PC not
being hard wired into the LAN.
Of course I'm now trying to remember where to access this setting; I
think there is a show all type feature in contorl pannel/task bar and
start menu, though this may only apply to the task bar menu. Perhaps
someone else on this list can remember where this setting is, but
somewhere is a setting to individually change the 'hide when inactive'
setting for each individual running task; so for instance I have the
'hide when inactive' unchecked for JAWS, AVD, my wireless adaptor and
a few other things which I find handy to have displayed all the time
in the systme tray, as I say I can't remember where this setting is
located now and I've just tried looking with no success thus far....
I'll have another look. The reason I mention this of course, is that
if set to 'hide when inactive' then I guess the update icon may
disappear from the system tray once its been sitting there unactivated
for a while...

Hello Vicki,
It's ok to post further suggestions in reply to answers. It gives

Hope this is reassuring.

Hello Everyone,
It's Vicki here again.
I've now become a new member and thought I would write about the
baloon issue and say that I sometimes can't find the actual baloon
message in the system tray which is strange.
Hope you don't mindme posting a reply to your suggestion Mark!!!
Best wishes to all,
Vicki.

Hi,
I'm sure there is another way to do this now with JAWS 9 (and
possibley earlier versions too), but the easiest way I find is to do
insert plus F11 to bring up the system tray icons, and then select
it
from the list (It'll useually I think be at the top as it will be
the
most recent thing to have occured/started running), then do the tab
once hit enter and it will either start installing or bring up a
dialogue with options regarding the update and its installation.

Hi all,
I'm getting the "Pop" sound, which I assume is the balloon, witha
message
saying: "Updates are reayd for your computer. Click here to
install". How
do I do this with Jaws, before the balloon disappears? I assume
it's a good
idea to take these updates when the system notifies you.
Thanks in advance,
Clive
