[bcab] Re: Attachments

Mark,

Good point about the limitation of the dictionary manager method, but it
will only affect the word "attachment" in Outlook, which may not occur
too often.

I'd be pleased to know of a way of getting JAWS to substitute a sound
for the attachment graphic, but the only method I know is with the
Insert + G keystroke, and that only allows another word to be
substituted. I had a quick look in the Speech and Sounds manager and
couldn't find a way to do it there, either.

Hi folks,

No no, changing the word "attachment" to a sound via the dictionary
manager
will not work. for one thing, it will mean that all sentences with the
word
"attachment" in them will be affected. So, for example, 'Robert has
developed a secure attachment to his foster carers.' would not be read
correctly. What you want to do is change the way that Jaws reads the
graphical symbol for an attachment which displays alongside messages
that
have an attachment. there is an explanation of how this is done
somewhere
within one of the FSCasts I think, or else on one of the earlier Main
Menu
archives. I realise that this isn't terribly helpful so if I can dig it

out, I shall.

Best,
Mark
