[bcab] Re: Articles for the blind

I do not think that is strictly the case in the Royal Mail policy. The poliy does not include all items to the best of my knowledge though I know when RNIB send out products they usually come Articles for the Blind.

My local post office will put a proper label on any package that i
want to send using articles for the Blind, along with a warning that
these labels can only be used if the intended package is actually
going to another blind person and the post office has every right to
open the package to check the contents and check that the addressee
is entitled to recieve items with the AFB label,

Hi Jackie,

I don't know if there is a different ruling for large print, but I
always believed that if Tapesense had sent a package containing only
standard print but under Articles for the Blind, they shouldn't have
done. Braille yes, large print I don't know, tape yes. Not sure
about audio CD, but this sounds like an entirely different issue to
me. Please can anyone clarify the position?

Cheers,

Clive

Hi Andrew

Some time last year, before I moved from Scotland, I recall
that Tapesense sent me their catalogue in print, and wrote Articles
For The Blind on the envelope by hand. My son went to the Sorting
Office for me and had to pay £1.40 postage that the postman requested
because he said it wasn't valid.

I took this up with Tapesense, and advised them to use AFB
labels to avoid this happening to other people. So perhaps you aren't
recommended to do this without a proper sticker.

Hi,

Does anyone know with AFB if you can just print out an
envelope and write Articles for the blind on this, or do you have to
use one of the stickers that RNIB sell in packs?

I have been doing the former for a while, and usually get
stuff through, but lately have had stuff returned as not qualifying
(mainly CDS which are specificly for VI people and contain VI specific
content).

Thanks.

Andrew.
