Hi
Terry is right and Outtwit is a very good option. However, that wasn't quite
the reason we couldn't use Jawter for Terry at work. The problem is that
Jawter requires linking to the default jaws scripts, and in fact there have
been a couple of machines on which I have tried to install it (Terry's being
one of them), where there were lots of "unknown function calls" going on, and I
obviously couldn't leave him with those problems. Well, I could, but I might
not have got paid at the end of the month. So we used Outtwit as a good
alternative, and it is good, and free.

Mel if you use outlook at work then a possible alternative could be outwit.
I have the same issue in other words at home Jawter works just fine but here
using my work networked and encrypted laptop no go!
Our JAWS expert couldn't even get it going and that's why we opted for Outwitt.

Hi Adrian,
Have just tried disabling the proxy as you suggested, but still no luck. My
workplace haven't actually blocked Twitter, they're wanting us to use it for
work purposes.

Mel try switching off the proxy server to see if that allows jawter to work. It
might just be that your employer has blocked twitter, entirely possible. If
you're using internet explorer at work then disable your proxy server by going
to the tools menu, up arrow to options, control tab to connections, tab to lan
settings and enter. Tab to 'use proxy server', use space to toggle it to off,
then tab to and enter on ok, again tab to and enter on ok.
Now try jawter.
You may well have to turn your proxy server back on by repeating the steps
above in order to access your intranet, network, internet etc but not
necessarily, try it and see, also you may find that your proxy defaults back to
on whenever you restart your machine.

Subject: [bcab] Anyone Using Jawter?
Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone is using this plug in for JAWS and Twitter. Its in
beta form at present and I'm unable to contact the guy who's written it. Tried
following him on Twitter in the hopes that he'd follow me back but as yet he
hasn't.
My problem is that I have installed Jawter successfully on my home PC, but am
unable to run it successfully at work. After putting in the information, I am
getting an error asking me to check that my username and password are correct,
which they are, and that I have an Internet connection, which I do. The only
difference I can think of is that I am using a proxy server at work. Any ideas
anyone?
