[bcab] Re: An introduction

it is amazing how long electrical equipment can run if kept in appropriate
conditions. Not PC related I know, but there waws a case in which recently of
a family who have had a fridge and it has been running constantly for 47 years.

There is no reason really why a well ventilated cool running PC couldn't run as
long.

There has been an attested case of a BBC Micro running for nine years
continuously and some of the exhibits at the London Science Museum are still
run by a BBC Micro or two. It had many interface options whcih made if good
for controlling things (eg. using the programming language FOURTH) and way
ahead of it's time it also had ethernet. Most PCs didn't come with ethernet as
standard well until about seven years ago.
