Hi tom.

I would send this one privately but I don't know your address and it may be
of use to some anyway.

Some early versions of the Advent 4211 PC came with Bios version 1.04 which
had a number of fairly serious issues which included difficulty turning on
the PC and an unstable wireless connection.

The latest version on the thetechguys website which is pC World's support
site is version 1.08. This works well but you can't use the home and end
keys so that is no good. There is a version 1.09 which is hidden in the
techguys site that some people have been provided with to sort this one out.
Alternatively, download version 1.07 from the techguys website instead and
all should work OK. I can send anyone the 1.09 file if it is required.

Regards

Subject: [bcab] Advent 4211 wireless probs

Partly a curio as I have booked the advent for a repair. Wireless connection
drops off almost immediately on connection. Have a realtech card with what
is supposedly the latest drivers from thetechguys site.

There is supposedly a general prob with this card. does anyone else have
this or are folk using different wireless cards?

My first machine's battery failed within a month and it took PC world more
than a month to get another one so I got a replacement machine. I have had
this machine for just over a month and problems.

I really like the concept of the net book, but, beginning to think that
either I am hell of unlucky or the machine is not what it was cracked up to
be.

I would be wary about getting one. As the Irish man said when asked the way
to cork, "If I was you, I wouldn't start from here".
