[bcab] Re: Accessing Web Pages Off-Line.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for this. I have tried changing the dialogue to 3 levels of links
and I still cannot get the initial page to show for some reason. Internet
Explorer just tells me that the page cannot be located without connecting
to the internet.

Many Thanks, With Kind Regards,

Hi Charles,

It's a long time since I did anything like this so my recollection of the
procedure may be faulty.

I seem to recall that when you synchronise web pages, you are given an
option to specify the level or depth of layers of linking which you wish
to sync. I have a feeling that the default is 1 which may mean that any
links you need to use will still be on the internet.

As I say, I may be wrong in this but it might be worth checking the
dialogue when you sync a page.

Subject: [bcab] Accessing Web Pages Off-Line.

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can advise me on the following.

I am using WINDOWS XP PRO on my work laptop and have set some of my web
favourites to be available off-line, when I am not connected to the
internet. I have synchronised the websites in question, as prescribed in
the Internet Explorer help pages, however, when I am away from the
internet and try to select the off-line pages, I am told that they cannot
be accessed off-line and I need to connect to the internet.

I have checked the "Work Off Line" option in Internet Explorer's File
menu.

When I synchronise, I am told that the synchronisation is taking place and
the web pages, reported during this process, are the correct ones.

I have a few questions -

1. Should I indeed access my off-line content from the Favourites menu of
IE? If so, is IE supposed to identify that the computer is not on-line and
therefore access the local content?

2. If I should be accessing the off-line content from elsewhere on my
lap-top, where should I look for it and should I use WINDOWS Explorer to
locate the HTML files?

3. As mentioned above, I'm using XP PRO at work. Could you also tell me if
processes for accessing off-line content would be the same for VISTA, as I
have this on my laptop at home?

I am using JAWS 10.0.

Many thanks for your help.

Many Thanks, With Kind Regards,
