Hi folks. I am still going to this Victorian Transport meeting tomorrow Tuesday and I will be out most of the day. I have to confess however, my hearing is starting to get worse. I also have to confess I am starting to be scared to go for walks now days. I can't hear traffic on roads I am crossing as good as I use to hear it and this is starting to worry me a lot. Even though I don't have a trained dog guide, my pet labrador is very good now days. Of course, I would never consider her a replacement for a properly trained dog guide or hearing dog, but she is really good with traffic and I can't explain why this is so. I am finding it hard to hear the telephone ring and now I have bought a cordless phone to help improve the situation slightly. Conversation on the phone doesn't seem to be effected by this hearing loss I am experiencing but hearing the phone ring, it sometimes takes me 30 or 40 seconds to register the phone is ringing even if I am standing next to the phone. I am due for a hearing appointment Tuesday next that's not tomorrow but the next Tuesday after that. Last time the doctor or audiologist as they call them said I was ok but I insisted on a follow up and I am sure glad that I did. It just might be me personally, but I feel my hearing is worse. Now days I am using a braille display to check everything on the Mac even though the voice over is something I can still hear. I find some audio books hard to hear even with full volume on an mp 3 player or daisy player. The only thing which has somewhat resolved this situation was the fact my daughter and my father bought me a set of wireless headphones which I must say work really well with the Mac and the wireless network I have set up around the house. Anyway, I just thought I would share this with this list, I realise that I will have to rely on the medical advice but I can't help how I am starting to feel about this, it really is starting to worry me.
