[AZ-Observing] What a weekend!!!

Hello all,

Just got done unloading my gear, and getting myself back into shape 
after a great weekend
at 5 Mile Meadow.  The nights cooperated very nicely, even the wind died 
down on request
once the sun had set.  There were other campers nearby, but very little 
light for it.
Only a few ATVs went by, and even they stopped to see what was going on.
As for observing, I myself had done the H400 objects in Ophiucus, and 
others had
their own agendas (Dave was hunting UGC objects), but all of us took 
ample time
to look up and gawk at a sky that was absolutely gorgeous to us 
desert-bound astronomers.
Speaking for myself, I wasn't used to seeing a "grey" sky due to being 
so dark adapted.
The transparency/seeing went like this....Thursdays (I wasn't there) was 
a 9/9, Friday's a 9/8,
and Saturday's a 9/8.  (When commenting on the 8 seeing on Friday night, 
Steve asked me if
I were complaining given I was looking at objects at -30*! :-)  )

And how great it was to be with such a great group.  This is truly what 
belonging to a club or
group is about.  Thanks to all for the wonderful conversation, 
comraderie, and observing.
And a special thanks to Steve for thinking of it in the first place....

In summary....

5 hours driving time (round trip)
$60 in gas
$30 in supplies
up too early
in bed too late
40 mph+ daytime wind
sunburned arms
bug bit legs
1 supreme weekend!

Looking forward to another trip there in the future...
