Thanks to all who responded to my post. I had not realized that Luke was
having an Air Show this weekend. Most certainly what I saw was connected
to that.
I have been observing for several decades and have seen my share of
fireballs and my first impression was that was what I was seeing. In
fact, I was all set to hop in my car and go look for pieces as it
appeared to hit south of Sun City. But then it zoomed almost straight up
so obviously it was not a meteor. While it was probably a jet with some
kind of device to leave a fiery trail (BIG fiery trail) it certainly
seemed to move a lot faster than jets I have seen.
I plan to go to Luke today and well ask around. It sure livened up my
observing last night.
