[AZ-Observing] Web Cam Mods: beginner input

Jeff, Stan, Steve, et al;

Thank you for changing the header. I did not wish to take this to some off
line discussion, I think that there are enough interested "listeners" to
keep it here. We have always been lenient about what is chatted about on
this list.

I am certainly not considering any large mods to my TU Cam Pro, but I may
add a fan when Summer comes around, or just leave as is and blow a fan
across the entire unit in general. Let me see how much noise it generates
when the temperature goes up.

I have not had a lot of time to use mine, but I am certainly impressed with
the results from just a couple of nights. Some excellent detail on the
Moon. I have gotten good enough yet to capture much planetary detail, but I
have no doubt that once I get a scope, Barlow, filter combination that works
I can do that as well.

If you are not an owner, it is certainly the simplest astroimaging
available, I will never buy a computer peripheral that is not USB again. It
is so simple. Once you have the adaptor to fit an 1.25 inch eyepiece hole,
then start up the software, focus and start capturing images. At least as
far as the Moon is concerned.

While at Starizona last Friday, Dean told Matt Luttinnen and I that if you
don't have a driven mount, that the program Registax will consolidate the
images as they drift across the frame. Ain't that neat?

I have yet to try post processing, still on my agenda.

Clear Skies to us all;
Steve Coe
