While 45 miles may be a significant distance to get away from the light 
pollution that may not be as bad as
Aurora Phoenicis, we must not forget the gases that are expelled into 
the air as a result of the refining process.  They shouldn't be 
poisonous, there's lots of refineries in and near developed areas, but I 
don't know what they will do to the air around the observing site, 
especially if the winds take them anywhere near us.
