[AZ-Observing] Vekol Friday Night

Had a great night at Vekol Friday with Jim Waters, Jeff Vandecar, Kerry
Weatherford and several other fellows who's names I did not hear. Weather
was mostly clear, calm and warm. Five or six of us stayed all night. Jim
Waters gave me a neat tour of the sky in his Dob and showed me how the Argo
Navis DSCs operate. Very impressive. I was amazed at the size of the
growing development of houses (with hundreds of new streetlights) near
Maricopa on the way down and the increase in the size of the Phx light dome
to the North since my last trip to Vekol over a year ago. Still the skies
are reasonably dark and I was very pleased with the views. Seeing was only
fair and doubles were tough but DSOs were fine - I still have not found a
place in the desert that beats my backyard for doubles.
