[AZ-Observing] Re: Travel Northward this weekend....

I  plan on going to Stan's Deep Impact Star Party Sunday up in Dewey.

For those who have not been to Stan's place it's situated on a ridge 
with dark skies and an excellent view in all directions. He has a 
house and domed observatory. He also has a fair amount of flat land 
for setting up your telescopes, parking and partying. I'll be 
bringing a charcoal BBQ (along with some BBQ chicken to share) for 
anyone wanting to do any BBQing.

I have been to Cherry Rd. and think Stan's place is as good if not 
better for being closer (and access via paved road) and more 
civilized. In addition we get some eats at the Deep Impact Party. If 
time and resources permit I hope to get some images of Comet Tempel 
before and after impact using my Deep Sky Imager Pro and Stan's 12.5" 
scope. I'll have my 13.1" DOB there too.

Since it now looks like I-17 will be open the whole weekend, heading 
north makes a lot of sense either Cherry Rd or Stan's party or both.

Come on up to the cool mountains!
