Howdy all;
Sounds like SAC has a fun evening planned for the July meeting, enjoy.
I am in an RV park near Klamath Falls, Oregon and it has been cloudy every
day. I got in about 15 minutes of observing before moonrise last night.
Just scanning around with the 10X50 binoculars. Spotting some Messier
objects quickly before the sky got white from moon light. When the
humidity is 50% and up the sky just never really clears. I am too used to
home. You can just toss a wet towel over the shower door and it is dry in
half an hour--not here!
I did go to Crater Lake today and it was well worth the trip. The water
is a beautiful deep blue-green from the minerals within the lake. I
stopped at several vista points and enjoyed the view. Not to mention that
at nearly 8000 feet there is still snow on the ground!! Certainly not
used to that in July. The park ranger said that they average 44 feet of
snow each Winter.
On Saturday I am on my way north for 3 or 4 days to get to the location of
the Table Mountain Star Party in Washington. The only large city nearby
is Yakima and it is about 100 miles away from the site. People who know
say it is dark. It will be on the east side of the Cascade Mountains, so
it ought to be dryer...I hope. The little town I will stay in for a few
days is Ellensburg. Then next weekend I will climb the mountain to the
viewing site.
I hope that you folks can get a break in the Monsoon for New Moon;
