That's a great shot! I had an opportunity to visit the land down under a
few years ago. I drove 5 hours to the New South Wales Astronomic Society's
dark observing site. It was a great drive, and the first night was
absolutely fantastic. The second day, it snowed. They all jumped around
like kids while I muttered under my breath. But, we had a great social
time by the fire.
G'day!
George

[AZ-Observing] Southern Milkyway
over Thunderstorm
HI all,
Our latest trip to the Outback of Australia was great fun - 4 priceless
nights of astro imaging, a week of digging dinosaurs, and another week
traveling, fossil collecting and meeting old and new friends. Here is the
first of what will be many new postings from this trip, a 17mm wide angle
shot on the Auroracam II mount of the Southwestern sky right after
twilight.
You can see many familiar sights here - Alpha Centauri, Eta Caraina and the
star cluster gems round the southern cross. Our latitude was -21 here, and
the sky measured 21.6 mag on the SQM.
