Gail and I observed the ISS-Shuttle linkup on Monday night, and saw the
separated vehicles last night (Tuesday). The two were separated by about 4
degrees (2 finger widths). There's supposed to be a higher (33 degrees) pass
tonight starting at 9:24 Phoenix time, and we'll be looking for that.
These passes add to the number of great shuttle views over the years.
Looking back, the greatest Shuttle experience in my mind was the pre-dawn
reentry that we (Tom Polakis and I) saw from Vekol Road a few years ago.
The twisted nebulous ion trail just hung there for a good 15 or 20 minutes,
plenty of time to observe it with our scopes.
