[AZ-Observing] Re: Seeing Conditions at a Dark Site

Bill, et al;

I have seen excellent seeing in both flat desert sites, including my backyard
at 7th Street and Thunderbird in Phoenix. I do believe that these types of
sites have good seeing more often than mountain sites. We have found that
sites too near a mountain get hot and cold air breezes even at midnight.
Occasionally I have been the lucky telescope user on an excellent night with
both good transparency and seeing, but those are rare indeed.

I have found this: if the wind is blowing hard then the seeing is never good,
this often happens when the jet stream is directly over the center of Arizona.

Hope that helps;
Steve
