[AZ-Observing] Re: Rain in Arizona

I would like to suggest taking up the study of Lepidoptera. Many
lepidopterists feel this will be a banner year for collecting
butterflies and moths, although I tend to disagree. It may be good, but
next year may be the banner year (assuming this year signals the end of
the draught). It seems collecting lepidoptera would fit perfectly with
amateur astronomy. When you get to you observing site and after setting
up you equipment, instead of just sitting and waiting for dark, just
think of the fun of swinging the net a bit to see what jewels you might
catch. If the night turns bad, just set up your black light, and/or
mercury vapor lamp, and collect moths. The trip is then not wasted. The
fun then comes in mounting them because then one sees what beauties they
are.
