I attended most of the talks about homemade observatories. The best
was one by Sky & Telescope editor Fienberg (sp?) which gave a montage of
about a dozen or so by the people who work at the magazine. It gave a fine
contrast of the advantages & disadvantages of each type, either dome,
roll-off roof or radical design. Some of the talks were very educational
about the importance of good planning and foresight. More talks will be
presented next year, as many were left out of the program due to lack of
time.

PS: I had a great time at the 35th RTMC as usual....An astronomy
nirvana (and circus)!..... I think it was my 22nd RTMC....bought some more
telescope parts.....went to talks...enjoyed the atmosphere....hoped for a
door prize....viewed the stars with others....soaked in the star party
sights and sounds at the field by the lake on Sat. night...took photos of
this year's telescope entries (which were few but very
innovative!)....cruised all the vendor booths....observed the various RTMC
people and children at play. Back East there is Stellafane (sp?) which I
attended once and it was enjoyable, and here, out West, is RTMC. Yes, I look
forward to next year!!!
