...except that these are Georgian names (as in Republic of Georgia).
I have a Georgian alphabet and phonetic sounding list at the office,
so I'll remember to check this out (I'm at the telescope now). I've been
extracting data from the Abastumani Observatory bulletins, in which these
two authors figure prominently, so I've been dealing with their data.
I've been pronouncing the names based mainly on the Cyrillic
transliteration (being Soviet-era stuff, the texts are mainly in Russian),
and come up with:
Dolidze DOLE-id-zuh where 'zuh' is a schwa with a z on the front
Dzimselejsvili dzim-she-leesh-vee-lee okay, 'dz' is almost j; the s is
almost certainly 'sh' as per the Cyrilic and their own
Arabic-letter spelling in the journal itself (the Georgian
script is an unreproducible variant on Greek)
If a native speaker doesn't respond more authoritatively, I'll try to
sort this out more convincingly.
\Brian
