With many visual morphological similarities to a planetary nebula, I
jokingly wondered what would happen if I applied the OIII filter on
the comet. To my surprise, its halo became more apparent by
comparison to the unfiltered view, stretching nearly a diameter
outside the bright coma's shell under light polluted skies in
Scottsdale, AZ.
I know Swan Band filters do transmit an OIII line, and wonder if
anyone with a Swan Band filter will notice improved contrast. This
is the first time I've ever noticed--with limited experience--
enhancement in a comet with an OIII filter. A UHC filter did nothing
of note.
