[AZ-Observing] Re: Other pictures from Vekol 2 weeks ago

I still see a possible ring in the largest B&W picture (m31_bw.jpg).
What is the processing on that?

Processing of color and to stretch contrast by messing with the
scaling of individual pixels shouldn't cause "edges" to appear that
don't really exist. But certain processing to enhance edges could
certainly cause such an effect (wavelet and other types). But the
effect of the ring is pretty subtle and may be an effect of my
"personal processing". After all, the eye/brain does some sort of
edge enhancement.

But I could certainly believe that I am seeing things that are not
there in this case.

These pictures really are fun. Did you notice the little galaxy near
NGC 205 away from m31? Guide shows it as UGC 394 and says it is
magnitude 15.6. I've never heard of it, but it seems like it should
be visible in a large amateur scope at least as a dim star.
