[AZ-Observing] Olympus Mons Observation

Had my best view of Olympus Mons early this morning. Even through passing
clouds and water-like seeing, I managed to observe in plain view the volcano
as it neared the CM through my 10-inch. At 400x, and 250x, the mountain
appears as a bright round feature (brighter than the immediate surrounding
albedo) just beyond the northern third of the planet. I has always been
under the impression foreshortened perspectives made observing Olympus Mons
easier, but even at the CM, the round bright spot was readily obvious with
no filter. Some high clouds also appeared visible through a blue filter
over the Tharsis region--but vague.

There was also a red flash south of Solis Lacus at 6:56UT, but I did not
observe it.
